While having lunch today, I watched a movie on Netflix today called 'YesMan'. It's a movie about a guy who is struggling in life, his wife left him, someone else got promotion at work which he was supposed to get, his friends invite him to go out to have fun, but he is always hiding from them. Basically a guy who is treating life badly because life is treating him badly.
Then one day, he meets an old friend who introduces him to a seminar, titled 'Yes is the new No'. Basically it is a seminar where people are ignited to say 'Yes'. He hesitates at first but then agrees to go.
He attends the seminar and the host gives him a promise that from now on He will say Yes to everything and things will start going his way. As soon as he leaves the seminar, a homeless guy asks for a ride to a far away place. Since he has to say Yes to everything he agrees, then on the ride the homeless guy asks for his cell phone, and after several hours being on call with someone, battery dies. As soon as he drops him off he asks they guy for money and he has to give it.
As soon as he turns the car to go to his home, his car runs out of GAS and he has to walk to the bottom of the Hill barefoot. There he meets an awesome girl who goes on to become his GirlFriend One day.
Not streching the story too much, what basically happens is he says yes to anything, even if he does not like that thing. But things finally started going inside way. He finally got that promotion, his ex-wife wanted to sleep with him, his friends were finally excited to hang out with him. He basically became an entire different personality.
After watching that movie, I realised that I might be very much same as the earlier version of this guy. I rarely go out with friends, I don't drink or smoke, I don't have a girlfriend and in general I am such a Pessimist Guy. I wondered if I started saying YES to everything will my life also turn around like this?
Surely an interesting experiment it can be. I have already started doing this on a smaller scale. Over the next coming few days, I will try to enforce it . I hope no one takes advantage of me in this situation. I will share the findings with you in coming dates.
